The first day of spring has finally arrived which means warmer weather and longer days are on the way which is super exciting! I feel like I come out of hibernation at this time of year and I've got loads planned in April with amberhoney to kick start the season - make sure you're following @amberhoneyhome on social media for all the latest updates and where to find us.
Another reason I love spring is for fresh starts and doing the big spring clean. As its starts warming up its a perfect time to refresh your home, throwing the windows open and decluttering so here's a few of my favourite tips:
Declutter:
Keeping places tidy is so much easier with less stuff! Grab a box and go round every room and pop things you dont need or use anymore in the box. When its full sort out stuff to donate, sell or throw away. When it comes to clothes, look at all your winter clothes and if you haven't worn them this season, you probably wont next year either. If you're local to the amberhoney store in dartmouth, keep an eye out for our second hand clothing sales to sell things you dont want anymore.
Tidy:
Once your place is decluttered, make sure everything you keep has a home. This will make it so much easier for you to do quick tidy-ups. Using baskets, bowls and trays to store things like keys or small things will help your home look so much tidier. Try our cement trinket trays to keep things like rings and jewellery together on your dressing table.
Clean:
Give your space a good clean, from top to bottom. Even if its just once a year, make sure to pull out and clean behind furniture (you may even find some treasures behind there, especially if you have cats like me!), then go round and dust surfaces, and finally hoover or mop floors.
Light a candle:
Finally it wouldn't be a spring clean without lighting a candle when you've finished! Which scent you choose can make such a different to your space and your mood. To complete freshening up your home I'd recommend a fragrance that contains essential oils like our Lavender & Lemongrass scent which has lavender essential oil, perfect for relaxation and calm, or the Peppermint & Eucalyptus candle and wax melts which contains a high percentage of essential oil and is brilliant for overcoming strong odours like pet smells. For a cosy space, try sandalwood, black pepper and orange, or our favourite amber & honey.
